Field Archery

Emerald Archery Club offers a number of different types of disciplines and games. These are covered below by a brief synopsis of the different disciplines and pictures that indicate the type of target used for that discipline. In some of the disciplines there are a variety of target faces or moulded rubber animals used.

The National Barebow and Sighted Round

The National Barebow and Sighted Round consists of two rounds. One round at 20 targets using three arrows and one round at 20 targets using one arrow. The rounds are shot on animal face targets and the first round you may shoot three arrows but your first arrow that hits a scoring zone counts, if you miss the target scoring zone with your first arrow then you can shoot up to a further two arrows, be aware though, your score will be reduced accordingly. The second round you have one arrow to score with if you miss the scoring zone then you miss out on scoring. The distances for senior archers vary from 5.6 metres to 48 metres, for juniors the distance varies from 5.6 metres to 33 metres and cubs 5.6 metres to 24 metres. All the distances are unmarked and you have to estimate these distances.
